Over the first year of the HND Course, we did various exercises regarding VFX. We used Nuke, a node-based compositing software, to create simple animations, track images into scenes, as well as rotoscope a boxer. We also created a scene featuring a magical portal, which ties back into our year’s theme; The Tower that Never Was, based on Stephen King’s Dark Tower series.
Here is a reel of all the practical VFX pieces I created during the year. The breakdowns of each piece should give a better idea of how I worked and achieve the results of each clip.
Here is a simple cut of each of the completed projects. I used Premiere Pro to edit these reels together. Below are links to my VFX Practical Work section, which will explain my processes behind this work, as well as the original Showreel post.
